Private higher education providers must stay at the forefront of developments in order to stay attractive and competitive


South Africa's private higher education sector is going through a significant transformative wave, driven by innovations that aim to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Peter Kriel, General Manager at The Independent Institute of Education, SA’s leading private higher education provider, says what happens in the public higher education sector – i.e. public universities - is widely known. However, the private higher education sector is often less known and understood, even though it is at the forefront of innovation in the sector.

While there are certainly differences between various public and private providers, it is important to keep in mind that private higher education providers must stay at the forefront of developments in order to stay attractive and competitive, whilst adhering to and often exceeding the required quality standards, notes Kriel.


He says some of the initiatives being implemented by private higher education institutions – which should become the norm to which all institutions, public as well as private, aspire - include:


TECH INTEGRATION AND BLENDED LEARNING

Private higher education institutions in South Africa are leveraging technology to create virtual classrooms and comprehensive online platforms. This innovation ensures that students have access to a wealth of educational resources at their fingertips, facilitating flexible learning schedules and accommodating diverse student needs.
